Stuczynski sets American record in pole vault

Stuczynski sets American record in pole vault with jump of 15 feet, 9 3-4 inches

Jenn Stuczynski set an American record in the pole vault with a height of 15 feet, 9 3-4 inches at the Boston Indoor Games.

Stuczynski (stuh-ZIN'-skee) won the event at last week's Millrose Games in New York, but she missed her attempt at the record.

Also in the Boston meet Saturday, Kara Goucher won the 3,000 meters in a personal best of 8 minutes, 46.65 seconds. Goucher, who had the fastest debut for an American woman when she finished third at the New York Marathon last year, is using her time in Boston to train for her Boston Marathon debut this spring.
