Bills' Lynch appeals NFL ban

Bills running back Marshawn Lynch has appealed his three-game suspension by the National Football League, imposed for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

The NFL confirmed Thursday that an appeal was filed, but gave no further details.

Lynch was suspended without pay for the Bills' first three games of the 2009 season, which starts in September.

The punishment was handed down last month after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge in Los Angeles.

Lynch was arrested in February after police found a semi-automatic handgun inside a backpack of a parked car in which the player was seated. Lynch pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed firearm and was sentenced to community service and three years on probation.

He was also involved in a hit-and-run accident in May of last year.
