Delhomme agrees to two-year deal with Browns

Jake Delhomme, who guided Carolina to the 2004 Super Bowl, has agreed to terms on a two-year National Football League contract with the Cleveland Browns.

The 35-year-old quarterback would fill what has been a trouble spot for the Browns and give the veteran signal caller another chance at NFL stardom after being dropped by the Panthers last week.

Carolina's shock move brought tears to Delhomme but joy should be forthcoming from the new deal, expected to be signed before Delhomme before the start of off-season conditioning workouts by the Browns.

The Browns released Derek Anderson, who has struggled the past two years, and obtained backup Seneca Wallace in a bid to help the quarterback position, with incumbent Brady Quinn expected to have to fight Delhomme for the starter's job.

Delhomme went 58-40 with the Panthers but suffered his career-worst season in 2009, throwing 18 interceptions.
