New York Jets nose tackle Kris Jenkins has a torn knee ligament and has been placed on injured reserve, ending his National Football League season.
Jets coach Rex Ryan said Monday that the team would re-sign veteran defensive tackle Howard Green in place of Jenkins, who has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Jenkins was hurt while making a tackle in the second quarter of the Jets' 16-13 overtime loss to Buffalo on Sunday.
Jenkins tackled Fred Jackson on a four-yard run with just over five minutes remaining in the first half. After falling, Jenkins lay on his back and winced before he was able to limp off the field to the sideline and from there to the locker room.
