Washington defender Albert Haynesworth was fined 10,000 dollars and New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs fined 7,500 dollars by the National Football League on Thursday for throwing punches.
The Christmas Eve wallet reductions came in response to an altercation after a play late in the fourth quarter of the Giants' 45-12 romp Monday night at Washington.
Haynesworth's penalty was for unsportsmanlike conduct while Jacobs was punished for unnecessary roughness in the moments after New York quarterback Eli Manning was sacked.
Jacobs and Washington's DeAngelo Hall began the incident, with Jacobs appearing to throw a punch, enticing Haynesworth to become involved. Jacobs and Haynesworth exchanged punches before order was restored.
The Giants sustained their playoff hopes with the victory while the Redskins fell to 4-12.
