The Seattle Seahawks hired John Schneider, who has 17 years experience in NFL front offices, as their new general manager.

Schneider comes to Seattle via the Green Bay Packers and will work closely with new coach Pete Carroll, who recently replaced fired coach Jim Mora.

The team will officially introduce Schneider on Wednesday at a news conference.

Schneider has been the Packers' director of football operations since 2008.

This is his second stint with Seattle as he was the director of player personnel nine years ago.

Schneider replaces former general manager Tim Ruskell who resigned in December after Seattle finished the season with a disappointing 5-11 record.
