Judge throws out Clemens' suit against McNamee

An American judge has thrown out a lawsuit brought by seven-time Cy Young award winner Roger Clemens against his former personal trainer Brian McNamee.

In February, US district judge Keith P. Ellison dismissed the majority of Clemens' lawsuit and this latest decision on August 28 nullifies the final portion of the suit.

McNamee is suing Clemens for defamation in a separate suit filed with a New York court.

Clemens launched his suit against McNamee in early 2008 after the trainer made accusations against Clemens in the Mitchell Report into the use of performance-enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball.

The judge agreed with McNamee's lawyers that that federal investigators had forced McNamee to co-operate with the Mitchell probe.

McNamee told Mitchell that he injected Clemens with steroids and human growth hormone in 1998, 2000 and 2001.
