Bond at $55M for man charged in Ohio stabbings

Ohio judge sets bond at $55M for man arrested in Canada, charged in 1997 college stabbings

A judge has set bond at $55 million for a man charged in the 1997 stabbings of his ex-girlfriend and her friend at Wright State University in Ohio.

Chi Quang Du had been sought by authorities for 11 years before he was captured Dec. 22 in Toronto, where he was managing a cellular phone store.

Du's arrest was based on a tip after his case appeared on the television program "America's Most Wanted."

The judge who set the bond Monday says it was justified because of Du's history of avoiding arrest. Prosecutor Stephen Haller says he can't remember a higher bond in Greene County.

Du has pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted aggravated murder.

A message seeking comment was left Tuesday for his attorney.
