Germans Bracht and Wallenhorst win men's, women's races at Frankfurt Ironman triathlon
Timo Bracht of Germany has won the men's race at the Frankfurt Ironman and compatriot Sandra Wallenhorst took the women's division on a day in which temperatures climbed to 86 degrees.
Bracht completed the 2.36-mile swim, 111.85-mile ride and 26.22-mile run in a course record of 7 hours, 59 minutes, 15 seconds on Sunday — shaving 39 seconds off the mark set last year by Australian Chris McCormack, who finished third.
Spaniard Eneko Llanos was second in 8:00:05, and McCormack, the 2007 Hawaii Ironman champion, finished in 8:02:49.
Wallenhorst won the women's event in 8:58:08, edging world-record holder Yvonne van Vlerken of the Netherlands, who finished in 9:02:20.
German Nicole Leder was third in 9:05:16.
