Minnesota Lynx sign 8-year veteran small forward Hamchetou Maiga-Ba

The Minnesota Lynx have signed veteran forward Hamchetou Maiga-Ba (HAHM'-shah-too MY'-gah-bah).

Maiga-Ba's addition was announced Wednesday. She was an unrestricted free agent, after a total of six years with the Sacramento Monarchs sandwiched around two seasons with the Houston Comets.

Maiga-Ba is a native of Mali. The 6-foot-2 perimeter player averaged 8.9 points per game for the Monarchs last season. She ranked 11th in the WNBA in field-goal shooting percentage.

Maiga-Ba is expected to start for Minnesota, with Candice Wiggins coming off the bench and Seimone (sih-MOHN') Augustus playing the shooting guard position.
